About our service

Adult Education in Gloucestershire, a service provided by Gloucestershire County Council works to engage local communities in learning activities. Our objective is to raise the achievement of participating groups and individuals, and to ensure all adults in the county have access to learning opportunities.

Although we do not actually employ very many tutors, we receive funds from central government (via the Learning and Skills Council), and the county council, which we use to 'buy' education services. These take the form of classes and courses, which are delivered by FE colleges and specialist education providers in Gloucestershire.

Because we contract with a wide range of partners, including voluntary and community sector organisations, we can take adult education into the heart of local communities.
