Everyone has the right to live safely and securely, free from abuse and the fear of abuse. These pages inform you about how you can best protect yourself and protect others from abuse. To find out more about this please see the attached documents and links below.


Gloucestershire's Safeguarding Adults Policy & Procedures provide information on how agencies work together to ensure that adults are Safeguarded from abuse. These policies and procedures have now been revised and are available on the Policy & Procedures page. The Community and Adult Care Directorate has a lead responsibilty to oversee Safeguarding Adults arrangements in Gloucestershire.

If you think someone is breaking the law contact the Police:

  • In an Emergency - 999
  • Other times - 101

If the abuse is also a crime such as assault, racial harassment, rape or theft you should involve the police to prevent someone else from being abused. If you are worried about contacting the police you can always contact the Adult Help Desk to talk things over first.
