Building works affecting Gloucestershire Archives

We currently have builders on site. Before your visit, please check the latest information about opening hours and parking. You will need to order your documents before you visit.

Christmas & New Year opening hours

Good news! The Archives will remain open until 4.30 pm on Thursday 21 December 2017 when we will close for the Christmas break. We will re-open at 9.00 am on Tuesday 2nd January 2018.

We will be closing at 4.30 pm on Wednesday 28th February 2018 to move into the newly refurbished Heritage Hub. We will be reopening at 9.00 am on 13 March 2018.

Document Copying Service

From May 2016 there will be changes to the service we offer to allow us to carry out the major building work which is part of our "For the Record" project.

As an interim measure we're reducing the copying service we offer.  So now we only provide certified copies from baptism registers and vehicle licensing records for the DVLA.

You are welcome to visit Gloucestershire Archives yourself to make copies, and you can find details of the cost of this together with information about using the public research room and our opening hours.

If you're not able to visit us yourself, you can employ an independent researcher to make the copies for you.  Please note that you will have to complete and sign a copyright declaration [88kb] before the work is started.  Please send the completed form to your researcher so they can hand this to the research room staff when they've made the copies.
