Building works affecting Gloucestershire Archives

We currently have builders on site. Before your visit, please check the latest information about opening hours and parking. You will need to order your documents before you visit.

We will be closed from Monday 11th December 2017, reopening as Gloucestershire Archives at the Heritage Hub on Tuesday 2nd January 2018. During this time  we will be relocating to the remodelled public space. We hope to keep disruption to our customers at a minimum as this is our least busy time of the year. We look forward to welcoming you to the Heritage Hub in the New Year

Ordering documents at the archive

You can order documents for future visits while visiting us

You will need to order all your documents before you view them.  You can:

  • Check the online catalogue to find the references and then pre-order documents 
  • Pre-order documents yourself during a visit - just leave the completed request slips with us when you leave and include the date you plan to visit

Please help us!  We need time to produce your documents from the strongrooms so give us as much notice as you can.   At least 2 working days for up to 3 items and at least 5 working days if you'd like to see more

When you have documents waiting for you your surname will be written on the white board near to the document control point. We will hand out the documents to you one item at a time as you ask for them.

Please return your documents to the document control point when you have finished with them.
