A48 night time closures for resurfacing

Published
18.10.2016

Following the completion of recent drainage work near Blakeney on the A48 the road will now be resurfaced.

The work to lay a new road surface will take place overnight from 7pm to 6am starting on Thursday 27th October until Friday 4th November.

Due to the size of the machinery, and to protect the travelling public and the workforce, it will be necessary to close the road from Chickasaw Lane to the junction with Awre Road at Bullo.

A signed diversion will be in place via New Road, Blakeney, Blakeney Straights, Barracks to Speech house, the B4226 to Cinderford and the A4151 to Elton Corner.

When the work is complete on 4th November the road will fully reopen and the temporary traffic lights will be removed.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood said, "The A48 is a busy key route though our county and by working overnight we can minimise disruption for local people, businesses and commuters. I thank road users for their patience while the work is done."

Cllr Richard Leppington, local county councillor for Blakeney and Bream said, "I'd like to ask road users to allow extra time and plan their journeys in advance while the overnight closures are in place."

If you require further information about this closure please call 08000 514514.
