Gloucestershire social worker nominated for social worker of the year award
A principal social worker from Gloucestershire County Council has been selected as a finalist in the social worker of the year awards 2016 as a result of their outstanding work and leadership skills.
Clive Diaz has been nominated for the 'principal social worker of the year' award and will find out if he has won at an exclusive awards ceremony which will take place in London in November.
Clive is one of 78 finalists across 15 categories and the winners from each category will compete against each other to be named the 'overall social worker of the year 2016'.
The awards ceremony is the leading celebration of its kind in the social care sector, and recognises the achievements and successes of the profession's most innovative and dedicated social workers.
Cllr Paul McLain, cabinet member for children and families at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "I'd like to personally say congratulations to Clive for being shortlisted. This is well deserved and recognises the dedication and innovation that he's bought to Gloucestershire County Council.
"Regardless of whether Clive wins or not, I am so proud of all his hard work, and the whole social care team in Gloucestershire for all their continued work and dedication.
"Gloucestershire County Council is still looking for more fantastic social workers to join our brilliant teams and I would urge all social workers to visit http://www.gccsocialcarejobs.co.uk/ and find out more about why Gloucestershire could be the place for you."
Clive Diaz, principal social worker - practise learning, said: "It was such an honour to have even been nominated, but being shortlisted is really amazing.
"Being a social worker can be difficult at times, but it is also so rewarding when we see successes of those we are trying to help. I couldn't do my job without the constant support of managers and the teams I work with and would like to thank everyone for their constant hard work."
