As of next Friday (22nd Sep) all vehicles will be able to drive through the new hamburger lane at Elmbridge Court roundabout. The improvement project, which started on 22nd August 2016, has finished on time and within the scheme’s £7m budget.

The significant work on one of the busiest junctions in the county will help relieve congestion, save commuters time and allow traffic to flow smoother.

Improvements include a new straight-on ‘hamburger lane’, a widening of the approach lanes and the latest traffic signal technology.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, “The new roundabout really will save commuters time. Though it will take few months to gather the intelligence needed for the new traffic lights to work to the best ability, I’m confident people will start to see a difference straight away.

“I’d like to thank people for the patience they showed whilst we carried out these improvements. Things have run smoothly over the past 13 months and now we can all enjoy the results.”
