Meaningful Activity & Wellbeing Network

banner

This multi- agency collaboration between Glos Care Services, Glos County Council, 2gether Trust and Gloucestershire Care Providers Association (GCPA) supports Meaningful Activity and the Wellbeing of Adult users of Health and Social Care and now includes Dom Care Services, Day Services and Learning Disability Services. The Network enjoys the support of both the Care Quality Commission within Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire County Council's Commissioning Services.

The importance of activity provision for people supported by Health and Social Care Agencies is present in legislation such as the Care Standards Act, National Standards Framework and Dementia Care Strategy and has been highlighted by the publication of The Care Act 2014 which enshrines the value of Meaningful Activity and Wellbeing. The clear message is that the provision of Meaningful Activity is an important way to enhance the Wellbeing and quality of life experienced by people you support and is central to person centred care. Joining the Gloucestershire Meaningful Activity and Wellbeing Network offers a great opportunity for activity providers to meet colleagues, share skills and good practice and get to know about the important events and ideas that are going on in the world of activity provision.

The Network has a Facebook page which we would encourage you to join as one method in which the Network keep in touch. There is also a quarterly Newsletter which can be emailed to activity providers. We look forward to meeting you and aim to help you to improve the Wellbeing of the people you support through staff training, advice and sharing good practice in the provision of meaningful activity .

Locality meetings are currently held in the Forest of Dean, Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham. A calendar of events with further information and contact details is now available. Regular attendees of the Network earn themselves a quality mark which can be displayed in their workplace, these will be presented at a conference event at the end 2017.
