Study Support activities improve motivation, build self-esteem and help children and young people to become more effective learners. They have a positive impact on attainment, attitudes to learning and school attendance.

The short address for this page is www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/studysupport

Study Support is learning activity that takes place outside normal school hours which children and young people take part in voluntarily. It includes various activities that can happen before school, at lunchtime, after school or even at weekends and in the holidays. Study Support activities improve motivation, build self-esteem and help children and young people to become more effective learners. They have a positive impact on attainment, attitudes to learning and school attendance.

The Study Support Team is located within the Community and Adult Care Directorate (Lifelong Learning Team) and projects taking place at the present time include:

  • Playing for Success
  • The Big Lottery Fund Extended Schools Programme
  • The QiSS (Quality in Study Support) recognition scheme
  • The DfES Gifted and Talented Summer Schools programme

Contact details for the Team are on the right. Click on the Projects link below to read more about each of these projects.
