The Gloucestershire Rural Renaissance scheme has helped rural communities and business influence and respond to the changing pressures facing the rural economy. It is one of the key economic development partnership initiatives working towards delivery of the Gloucestershire Rural Economic Strategy.

During the last four years (2005-2009) the scheme has invested £8 million in projects to boost the rural economy through the delivery of job creation, employment support, business creation, business support, accessibility, and skills (£4 million of which has been provided by the South West Regional Development Agency). The remainder is funded from the public and private sectors.

The partnership has been run by a cross-section of public, private and voluntary sector organisations who have worked together to allocate funding.
