Cannop Valley (Forest Nature Reserve) 10 mls. A network of forest paths, tracks, old tram & railways allows the visitor to explore the nature reserve with little impact on the environment. A circular forest walk from Beechenhurst picnic site taking in 17 individual outdoor sculptures. Soudley Valley Rural Geology Trail - 3.4 miles Walking this trail will take you through nearly 100 million years of Earth's history. Sites along the route represent changing environments from the Devonian and Carboniferous periods, ranging from rivers, floodplains, seas and swamps. St. Briavels Walks A set of six walks covering the parish of St. Briavels in the Forest of Dean. The walks are of varying distances; some with a pub on route. A circular, forest walk from Symonds Yat car park through Mailscot Wood with fine views and points of geological interest. You can see at least 20 different species of tree on this walk. A circular walk from Wenchford picnic site including a forest pond, a free mine, a viewpoint (offering a wonderful panorama of the Forest with glimpses of the Severn Vale and Cotswold Hills) & a disused railway line. Wildlife Events Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust hold a series of guided walks and wildlife events to which members of the public are welcome.
