What we can do and how you can make best use of our free service.
What we can do for you: We - will respond to enquiries submitted by either post or email. Please contact us.
- can give you information and advice about the sources we hold relating to your enquiry,
- can check our indexes and catalogues for specific queries on your behalf,
- will spend up to 30 minutes on your enquiry, which includes preparing our reply,
- will normally reply fully to your enquiry within ten working days,
- can offer alternatives if we cannot deal with your enquiry.
For family history enquiries See Research your family history How you can help us to help you:- give clearly your name and address (postal or email) and a telephone number if possible,
- be as specific as you can with your enquiry and provide any relevant information that you already have,
- please be patient and wait for our response before submitting a follow up enquiry.
What you can do for yourself:- check our online catalogue to find out what records we hold. The catalogue includes parish registers, school records and Board of Guardians records.
- use our Genealogical Database [Opens in New Window]. This provides a name index to pre-1858 Wills, Goal Registers and parish settlement records.
