12.5.08 - Pre Blob!

Pregnant TummyWell, I have just started my maternity leave, and after the usual noisy, bathroom-battled, sandwich-making, lost-maths-book-hunting hour, I scooted the Teens off to school and spent my initial couple of hours waddling around and whooping with joy to be off work - well after I'd cleaned up the half masticated remains of a corn on the cob husk that the dog had snuck in after last nights BBQ and sprinkled the hallway with - nice!   Oh yeah - this is the life - and the sun is shining (though I can't actually venture out to enjoy it as I am swaddled in what feels like a water tank insulation jacket - and am much the same shape too...and so would start boiling and overflowing if I retained any more heat!  I would be so efficient in the winter though!)

But now reality bites - and I'm actually quite bored – so am glad that I have this to keep occupied. Le Blob is not moving so much now as I guess space is a bit limited in there...changed from the roomy mansion-sized penthouse suite to a bedsit with no room to swing a cat (or a rattle...) Ah kids – they are all the same...Teens treat the house as a hotel, expect taxiing around, and see me as unpaid skivvy...Le Blob treats me as a hotel and taxi in one – with continuous room service on tap...the joys of parenting!

Anyway – nappies...It all started with a poster in the lift at work...

I saw the poster promoting the up and coming Real Nappy Week (which was end of March). I arrived in the office and thought I'd just see what information was on our website. There was a link off to the Recycle for Gloucestershire site, which is a joint venture by the Gloucestershire Waste Partnership between all the district, borough, city councils and county council, to tackle waste management throughout our county.

Anyway the site has some great info about why we should use real nappies (have a look!) [Opens in New Window], along with a long list of where to get hold of them, including some handy links. This is when my panic, and strange obsession began! After a cursory glance at the baffling array of types and brands available, I gulped, and promptly decided to come back to it later. This is where I begin!
