What we said we would do

Our plans and strategies

staff carrying out business planning

Our business planning framework helps to make sure that:

  • all parts of the organisation at all levels are working together effectively to improve outcomes for local people
  • activity on the ground is aligned to corporate aims and priorities and contributes to their achievement
  • corporate priorities are informed by what is happening on the front line of services
  • our activity is aligned and co-ordinated with the work of our strategic partners
  • each member of staff understands their contribution to the Council's priorities

There are five levels to our planning framework:

· The Gloucestershire Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement: These strategic partnership documents set out a shared set of ambitions for Gloucestershire that partners have agreed that they will work together to achieve.

· The Council Strategy: This sets out Gloucestershire County Council's vision and values, our service aims and objectives and our medium term priorities for improvement.

· Joint Strategic Commissioning Plans and Directorate Business Plans: Our Joint Strategic Commissioning Plans set out how we will work with partners to achieve improved outcomes in 5 areas: Children and Young People, Health & Community Wellbeing, Economic Development, Environment and Stronger, Safer Communities. Alongside these, our Directorate Business Plans set the priorities for each of our directorates and the contribution that each directorate will make to achieving corporate and partnership aims.

· Operational Business Plans: Each Council service produces an Operational Business Plan which is focussed on making the most effective use of council resources and maximising value for money in our services.

· Personal Assessment Reviews (PARs): Each member of staff has an annual PAR, through which their work programme is agreed and monitored.
