Pandemic Flu Planning

We worked to National and World Health Organisation guidance to develop pandemic flu plans

The Cabinet Office Civil Contingencies Secretariat identified a need for public organisations to have plans in place to respond to a flu pandemic.

Gloucestershire Local Resilience Forum partner agencies, led by Gloucestershire Health, have a local Pandemic Flu Response Plan. As far as reasonably possible the plan includes pre-planned response arrangements to ensure that the local community can be supported through a pandemic. It includes arrangements for maintaining the provision of essential support services, such as healthcare, support for those at most risk, provision of antiviral medicines, the school community and bereavement support. An inevitable outcome of any flu pandemic is a substantial rise in the death rate. Plans to cope with this extra demand on local authority resources are included as an Annex to the Pandemic Flu Plan.
