LRF Strategic Group

Membership of the Gloucestershire LRF Strategic Group comprises of all the agencies identified as Category 1 Responders under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

The composition of the strategic LRF Group is:

  • Gloucestershire Constabulary - Assistant Chief Constable chairs the Group
  • Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service
  • Gloucestershire Health Authorities (Ambulance, HPA and NHS Trusts)
  • Gloucestershire Local Authorities - Represented by the County Council Emergency Management Service, who also provide the secretariat.
  • Environment Agency
  • Maritime Coastguard Agency
  • Military
  • Government Office for the South West

Other organisations can be co-opted onto the group as required to provide expertise in any particular specialisation.

The Group meets twice a year, although meetings can be held more frequently if necessary.

Representatives from the strategic group also represent Gloucestershire at the Regional Resilience Forum (RRF) for the South West Region.

A small team, the South West Regional Resilience Team (RRT) [Opens in New Window]are based at the Government Office for the South West (GOSW) [Opens in New Window] in Bristol and deal with regional issues and liaison between central government and local area responders. To assist its work the Gloucestershire LRF has sub-groups.
