Ofsted is now responsible for the regulation and registration of childminding and day-care providers.

Ofsted is now responsible for the regulation and registration of childminding and day-care providers. The change, from a local service carried out by local authorities, to a national service run by Ofsted, is part of the government's aim to improve the coherence and consistency within which childminders, playgroups and private nurseries work.

A list of Ofsted registered providers can be obtained from Family Information Service (FIS)  or via the glosfamilies directory.
