Transport to secondary school (11 to 16 years)

National legal requirements and our local policies are used to decide which families can be provided with free home to school.
We are only able to provide transport assistance if you live in Gloucestershire.

Gloucester

We are able to provide transport to secondary school in specific circumstances. This includes transport for school pupils who need to travel three miles or more to their nearest school.  We can also provide extra help for families on low income.

If you are deciding which school to send your child to, think very carefully about the cost of transport. You will not be entitled to free transport if you choose to send your child to a school that is not your nearest one.

There are different arrangements for transport to Catholic schools and for Grammar Schools.

To see the details of the above follow the links below.

Children's Services Non-entitled Travel Scheme

This is a scheme which allocates otherwise unused places on school transport to those pupils who do not qualify for free passes. If you do not qualify for a pass but wish to enquire about paying for a ticket go to the page about the Children's Service Non-entitled Transport Scheme

We will always do our best to process applications quickly. But to make sure you have a bus pass for the beginning of the academic year, please send your application to us before the start of the school year.

If your application is late, there may be a long delay in getting a pass to you.
