| Call to order and opening prayer

Motion No. 658 Restoration of Civil Liberties & Political Reform This council notes: The new Government's commitment for much needed political reform and the restoration of our civil liberties. This council welcomes: - The proposal to bring in a proportionally elected second chamber;
- Proposals to regulate party funding;
- The proposal to hold a referendum to give people a chance to vote to end First Past the Post elections for the House of Commons;
This council also welcomes the introduction of the Freedom Bill, which will; - Scrap the illiberal ID cards scheme;
- Bring an end to the fingerprinting of children in schools without their parents' consent;
- Introduce better regulation of CCTV cameras;
- Place significant restrictions on the DNA database;
- and restore the right to protest.
This Council resolves to write to our MP/s asking for their support in Parliament when these bills are heard. To write to the Deputy Prime Minister giving this council's support to the proposed bills.
