Keep Safe
We are working with Gloucestershire Constabulary on a new support scheme called 'Keep Safe' This scheme helps people with learning disabilities feel safe when they are out and about in their community. The Keep Safe scheme also aims to stop bullying and abuse of people with learning disabilities in Gloucestershire.
The scheme works by giving people with learning disabilities a small card to carry with them, with information about themselves and people who can be contacted if they need help.
We have asked the following organisations/people to put 'Keep Safe' stickers in their windows so people know it's a safe place to go and ask for help and support if, for example, they lost their purse or bus ticket:
- Shop keepers
- the Police
- Gloucestershire County Council
- NHS
- Community organisations
- Cafes
These groups have worked together and received training on what to do if someone asks for help.
If you are a person with a learning disability and would like to join the 'Keep Safe' scheme, or if you are a member of an organisation who would like to become involved in the Keep Safe scheme please contact us using the details below.
By clicking on the links below, you will also find a list of places you can go if you need help when you are out and about. All these places will have the "Safe Place" sticker in the window
