The Gloucestershire Local Area Agreement (LAA)

Working together to make a positive difference for the people of Gloucestershire

The Gloucestershire Local Area Agreement (LAA) is an agreement between the government and a partnership of local public and voluntary organisations, led by Gloucestershire County Council through the Gloucestershire Conference.  It sets a range of improvement targets aimed to help partners concentrate on working to achieve their top priorities and to make a real difference for local people.

We have recently signed off our refreshed LAA for 2008 -11 with Government.  The LAA was submitted on 25 March 2009 and is available to download at the bottom of this page along with the LAA Delivery Plan for 2009 -10.

The original version of the 2008 -11 LAA can be found below, but please note that this has been superseded by the refreshed LAA document. Information on our previous LAA (2007-08), including performance reports, is available via the link below.

LAA's aim to make services more effective and efficient by promoting agencies working together, streamlining funding arrangements, simplifying inspection and reducing bureaucracy.

As part of the process of identifying and managing priorities we will be monitoring the National Indicator Set (NIS) on a quarterly basis. Details of the NIS can be found online [Opens in New Window]

The Gloucestershire LAA is built around five 'themes'. The development of each block has been led by a countywide thematic partnership. The five blocks, and the partnerships leading their development are:

  • Safer and Stronger Communities - Gloucestershire Safer & Stronger Communities Partnership
  • Healthier Communities and Older People - Gloucestershire Health & Community Wellbeing Partnership
  • Children and Young People - Gloucestershire Children & Young People's Strategic Partnership
  • Economic Development and Enterprise - Gloucestershire First
  • Natural & Built Environment - Environment Partnership
