Changes to Library Charges from 8th January 2018 - see FAQs

Many of our services are free to members but there are some things we charge for:

  • Public Access PC charges for Non Library Members

 You can pay library charges in person when you visit any library.

From 8 January 2018 Library Members can use the public access PCs free for a maximum of 2 hours per day.  Non Library Members/visitors will be charged £1.00 per hour (or part hour) up to a maximum of 2 hours per day.

 

It is free to reserve items using the library online catalogueOpens new window. If you ask staff to place the reservation on your behalf at a library you will be charged £1 per reservation unless you

  • are younger than 18 or
  • qualify for a concessionary rate.

We also offer an inter-library loan request serviceOpens new window to request books not available from Gloucestershire library stock. The charge for this service is £4.00. This charge is non-refundable, and no concessions apply.

The maximum fine for each book is £8.20.

  • Adults: 20p per day
  • Up to 18 year olds : no charge

Books - subsequent weeks or parts of week

  • £1 per week
  • Up to 18 year olds: 10p per week

Computers are free to use but you will be charged the following fees for printing:

  • Black and white A4 - 10p per sheet
  • Black and white A3 - 20p per sheet
  • Colour A4 - 80p per sheet
  • Colour A3 - £1 per sheet
  • Microfilm reader prints - Black and white A4 - 10p per sheet, A3 - 20p per sheet available at Cheltenham Library (£1 per sheet at Gloucestershire Archives)

Printing for local and family history enquiries from service users outside Gloucestershire*:

  • Black and white A4 - 50p per sheet
  • Black & White A3 - 60p per sheet
  • Microfilm reader prints - £1.50 per sheet (available at Cheltenham Library and Gloucestershire Archives)

*These charges cover the extra administrative and postage costs involved.

 

£1.50  but free with a crime number.  There are no concessions to this charge.

 

Hardback (fiction and non fiction)

  • £7 for children's stock
  • £15 for adult stock

Paperback (fiction and non fiction)

  • £3.50 for children's stock
  • £8 for adult stock

Children's board books

  • No charge

Inter-library loan (ILL)

Music scores and sets: lost part

  • £15 penalty charge per set. Missing items must also be replaced with an identical edition and binding

Play set: lost part

  • Item must be replaced with an identical edition

 

We provide a range of services from fax (at some libraries) to room hire for meetings and conferences.

You may be eligible for some concessions if any of the criteria below apply to you:

  • Customers who are blind or visually impaired
  • Customers who are hearing impaired
  • Customers who are housebound
  • Customers with learning difficulties
  • Students on literacy or foundation English courses
  • Customers who are dyslexic or whose ability to read is impaired
  • Children up to age 18
  • Children in care
  • Unemployed people
  • People in receipt of income or pension support, family and employment credit

Library staff retain the right to ask for proof of entitlement to any of the above concessions.

The documents we accept as proof of eligibility:

Income Support: Payment order book, benefits agency letter

Unemployed: Job seekers allowance or benefits agency letter

Pension Credit: Payment order book, benefits agency letter
