Maintenance affecting online forms and payments

Forms down on Saturday
We will be working on systems which will affect online forms on Saturday 28 March 2015 from 9:00 am for the day. During this period forms may be visible but data may not be submitted so use the "online forms" links on this page with caution. The form may open but your data may be lost.
If you do go ahead with a form submission, make sure you get an acknowledgement that the form has been submitted properly.
Everything should be working again by Sunday.

Payments down now
The payments system will be off line from now until Monday morning so payments will not be processed even if you can complete the form.
Please do not attempt to pay for any services while this message is visible.

Search the Library catalogue

Search and Reserve

Browse over a million items on Gloucestershire's library catalogue, from books and DVDs to spoken word cassettes and videos. Anyone can access the catalogue to browse, but if you want to order or renew an item or check your current loans and charges, you must be a member and have a library card.

Renew my items

If you have lost or damaged your library card please visit any county library to request a replacement card.  There will be a charge for this service unless a crime number is supplied.

Please note, in order to check customer details, we set a 3 year automatic expiry date. This means you will be asked to confirm your details when you visit the library. If you use our electronic services you may find you are not able to access them or complete a request online if your account has expired. Please contact us or visit your local library to ensure your membership is updated quickly and you can resume use of services.


You can:

  • Renew items up to 6 times as long if the title isn't reserved by another user
  • Renew online  via the library catalogue. You will need your library card number and PIN number to log into your account.
  • Renew your items by phone on 0845 230 5420, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - Contact the Library service
  • Renew at a library
  • Renew via The Library App


Trouble shooting: If you have tried to order an item via the 'reserve' option in the catalogue, you may see the message: 'request failed'.
In most cases this will be because your library membership has temporarily expired, and you need to contact us or visit your local library to confirm your details as library accounts automatically expire every three years.

We review your suggestions regularly, keep an eye on the library catalogue to see any new additions.

What we charge for

We will make a charge for CDs and DVDs and if you don't return or renew your books on time. We also charge for some reservations and orders. Our Paying for library services page has all the details.

What does membership give you

At any one time you can borrow up to

  • 20 books (including spoken word CDs or cassettes) and
  • 6 DVDs and Music CDs

The loan period is:

  • 21 days for books and spoken word items
  • 7 days for Fastback books and music CDs
  • 1 night for DVDs
