Tips for completing Core Offer

Tips for achieving success with meeting the core offer for extended services in and around your school.

Signposting parents and carers to information and advice can be an easy and sometimes 'all that is needed' way of completing the core offer for extended services in and around schools.

Displaying information leaflets in school and publishing contact details on the school website and in regular newsletters can help achieve success in meeting the 'childcare', 'menu of activities' and 'parenting support' core offers for extended services. Useful contact information to display and publicise is:

Family Information Service (FIS) for help in finding childcare, out of school clubs, childminders, holiday clubs and activities and information on tax credits and benefits, parenting and family support.

Your District and Parish Council for information about activities, services and what's on. Go to our "Parish and Town councils" pages to find the contact details for District and Parish Councils in your area.

Parentline Plus Gloucestershire  for information and support on issues facing parents. Parentline Plus has a free confidential helpline available seven days a week, 24 hours a day and they also offer group workshops for parents and carers addressing a wide range of issues.

Schools may already have leaflets and info on the FIS and Parentline Plus, but if not, please get in touch with either FIS and/or Parentline Plus and some will be on their way.
