Why Locality Hubs – a reminder!

Locality Hubs are aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people and meeting the objectives of the CYP plan :

• Coordinating the response to individual children, young people and families where additional needs have been identified
• Overseeing the development of new multi disciplinary arrangements that bring resources together at a local level;
• Supporting professionals to work together flexibly to create individual packages of support for children;
• Providing effective decision-making on local use of resources to meet individual needs and to inform countywide commissioning.

Locality Hub area boundaries

The deadline for consultation on the boundary areas closed on 1^st January 2009. The feedback from the consultation was positive, with a few suggestions for boundary adjustments. After considering the feedback gathered through the consultation process, the Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership Executive agreed the revised area boundaries for the Locality Hubs on 7^th January 2009. In response to the consultation, the number of Hubs was reduced from ten to nine areas. The main difference will be in the Forest of Dean and Gloucester areas. The Forest of Dean now includes the Newent area, previously suggested as part of Gloucester North and Brockworth is now in the Tewkesbury Hub area. The boundaries for the Gloucester Hubs have shifted slightly to accommodate this. This also means better links at a district level. Next steps...

The project team are working on the milestones for developing the Locality Hubs between April 2009 and 2010 in order to achieve a phased roll out. A draft specification for the hubs has been developed which sets out the definition and scope for the locality hubs - available on the Change for children [Opens in New Window] website along with more information about the background to the development of locality hubs
