  • Closing the Gap Conference 2017

    The conference is taking place on Tuesday 27th June @ 09:15 – 15:30 at The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, GL7 6JS.  The cost is £155 per delegate and the key note speaker is Marc Rowland, Director of Policy and Research at the National Education Trust.

  • RM Securenet Replacement

    You may be aware the Securenet software used by schools to securely transfer files to and from the County Council is reaching the end of it’s life in August.  As such the County Council are currently assessing a number of potential options for replacing the system.

    Reports have been received of individuals receiving automated telephone calls informing them that their children are absent from school and to call a premium rate 0845 number.

  • Secondary School Forecasts 2017/18 – 2023/24

    The pupil number forecast is a likely indication of your pupil numbers over future years to enable you to plan provision. This pupil number forecast will be used in assessing basic need, through the school capacity return, to ensure sufficiency of school places throughout the county. It will also be used in any Section 106 agreement negotiations affecting your school. The forecast is available on Securenet.

  • Free Facts4Life Mental Health & SRE Resources Training for Glos Primary Schools (already Facts4Life trained)

    Facts4Life is launching new materials for teachers to address mental health issues with students and, in addition, a framework for the delivery of Sex and Relationships Education from Reception through to Year 6. These materials, available on-line, are underpinned by the key ideas of Facts4Life, including the connections between mental and physical health. They build on and extend the core materials of the KS1 & KS2 resource published in 2016.

  • Exclusions statutory guidance: invitation to respond to a consultation

    The DfE has launched a consultation on revisions to the 2012 statutory guidance on the exclusion of pupils, to make the rules that apply to exclusions and the process of review clearer.

    The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) has updated its guidance for teacher assessment of KS2 writing. In response to feedback from schools and LAs about last year’s assessment and moderation arrangements, STA has produced a video to address some common misconceptions.

  • Gloucestershire School Forum – Elections

    The main Schools Forum elections which were due to take place this year in March have been postponed until 2018.  This is due to the uncertainty around the future role of School Forums, and school funding, as a result of the National Funding Formula proposals. It was felt that a significant change in membership of the Forum would not be helpful at this time.

  • Achieving Resilience Through Play and Drama - an information and consultation event - 27 March

    The School of Liberal and Performing Arts at the University of Gloucestershire are lead partners of a three year European project: ARTPAD (Achieving Resilience Through Play and Drama). The project explores the use of drama and play for supporting teachers and practitioners working with children and young people to promote engagement with learning.

    Samaritans can offer specialist support for school leadership teams after a suspected or attempted suicide in the school community through their Step by Step service. Guidance is also available to help schools plan for such an event.

  • End of Key Stage P-Scale Moderation Clinics 2017

    As in previous years we are offering clinics in six special schools around the county aimed at teachers and teaching assistants who have pupils working below the expected standard in Years 2 and 6.

  • New Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE: launch conferences 2017

    The new Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE is being launched by Gloucestershire Standing Advisory Council on RE (SACRE) in the summer of 2017.  There will be two opportunities for primary head teachers and subject leaders to attend a day conference in different parts of the county, on Thursday 18 May and Monday 12 June 2017.
