Health and wellbeing staff survey – are you getting the support you need?

It has now been six months since we launched the new Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that is available as a subscription service to schools that buy Occupational Health from GCC. We want to make sure it’s meeting your school’s health and wellbeing needs, so if you are a school that subscribes to the service please find a few minutes to let us know what you think by completing this survey before 14th May 2017.

Step up to doing something different! As spring arrives and brings with it some fairer weathers; it’s the perfect time to join one of the many walking groups that operate around Gloucestershire or step out on your own. Here are six great reason to give it a go:

  • Control your weight and be more healthy
  • Feel more energetic and less stressed
  • Sleep more easily
  • Save some money on travel expenses
  • Reduce your risks of developing coronary heart disease and having a stroke, Type 2 diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis
  • Make some new friends

Can you help fight depression in Gloucestershire? Friday 7 April was world health day. Every year, the World Health Organization chooses a different theme for the day and this year’s was depression ‘let’s talk’. The day is an opportunity to remember that depression can affect anyone and that talking with people you trust can be a first step towards recovery. But, this can’t just be a one day thing; starting a conversation about depression can help make it more acceptable so that people find it easier to open up and begin a journey of recovery. You can find out more about help in Gloucestershire at www.talk2gether.nhs.uk or there are some great resources on the Employee Assistance Programme at healthassuredeap.co.uk/depression/

We will be running articles like this every month to keep you informed and up-to-date about events and information that could be important to your Health and Wellbeing. Whilst we plan to use information from a variety of sources, a lot of the tools and info we use will come from Health Assured’s Employee Assistance Programme that provides a massive variety of helpful tools and information, and 24/7 counselling services. For more information about how to buy-in to this service within your schools, head to: www/gloucestershireshire.gov.uk/eap or contact Occupational Health ohu@gloucestershire.gov.uk
