Help to better manage my medication at home on my own

Mr B has Parkinson’s, a history of strokes and lives on his own in sheltered accommodation. Mr B is able to manage many day to day tasks well but one area Mr B does struggle with is ensuring he takes his medications at the right time and in the right quantities.

Telecare was able to provide two Pivotell medication dispensers that are filled by the Pharmacy and delivered to Mr B every week. We also provided two days clocks, with easy read display screens. This helps Mr B know when it is daytime or night-time, as he finds numbers on traditional clocks confusing. One of the clocks was placed in the front room and the other in his bedroom.

Mr B was happy that were able to provide this for him free of charge and that this would help him stay in his own home by allowing him to better manage his medication. This was one of Mr B biggest worries and he values his independence and is still able to manage many things like going to Tesco on his own.

The Pivotell and Day Clocks are available to people who need prompting to take their medication and need support with taking the correct dose. If you think Telecare could help you or someone you know, please contact the Adult Helpdesk on 01452 426868.
