Telecare equipment to help me, if I fall at home alone

Ms F lives on her own in her Bungalow and is diagnosed with Dementia as well as mobility issues. Ms F has a history of falling and being left vulnerable for a number of hours without being able to call for help. Ms F has also experienced instances where she had left the gas cooker and gas fire on, on separate occasions. Ms F was fortunate enough that a regular visitor was visiting and acted appropriately to prevent Ms F coming to any serious harm.

The Telecare team spent some time with Ms F discussing options that would help her feel confident in some potential types of equipment and how it would help her in the event of another fall. Ms F was issued with a wrist worn falls detector, a  temperature sensor in the kitchen and a smoke detector it the front room. This was all linked to a Lifeline Unit.

Ms F’s daughter is one of her main sources of support and was relieved that the equipment would be in place ensuring that her mum could access help quickly via the lifeline call centre if she needed it.

General safety Telecare equipment and fall detectors supports people to live independently and safely whilst maintaining their daily routines. If you think Telecare could help you or someone you know, please contact the Adult Helpdesk on 01452 426868.
