Rebecca Hawker - Newly Qualified Social Worker (Tewkesbury team) (2017 - 2018)

“As a Newly Qualified Social Worker I am supported by Gloucestershire County Council through the ASYE programme. This entails having regular supervisions with my supervisor and taking part in monthly group supervisions with other NQSWs. The programme requires NQSWs to create a development folder where they evidence there ongoing development through out the first year of practice by setting SMART goals, planning direct observation, keeping reflective accounts and having regular review meetings. I have enjoyed my ASYE year with Gloucestershire County Council because they encourage reflective practice. In addition the practice educators use innovative techniques to support professionals to think about the wider impact of Social Work. As I am come towards the end of the ASYE year I intend to continue working for Gloucestershire County Council because of the learning culture and the supportive management team who constantly seek to make improvements.”
