What the Practice Development Team say about working in Adult Social Care:

We do our part to make Gloucestershire Adult Social Care a place where Adult Social Care staff:

  1. Want to develop through great learning opportunities
  2. Want to progress to their best
  3. Are able to focus on delivering quality practice so they can focus on people first.

We aim to achieve this through questioning the norm, modelling quality in everything we do and creating space for reflection. Because we care about our colleagues, who we serve, and what we do.

Our team is involved in supporting workplace CPD through our offer of mandatory training and various other development training events. This is to ensure that we have a confident workforce that feels supported to make defensible decisions.

We structure and monitor the Adult Social Care ASYE programme which assists in helping our Newly Qualified Social Workers establish themselves in the first steps of their professional career. We also support students throughout their studies at university, working as Practice Educators for those on placement with us and liaising with placement supervisors and various universities.

The Practice Development Team is also involved in developing Career Pathways and working with individuals to enable them to progress in their roles; including being the hub for the Recruitment and Retention Team - who handle all permanent, temporary and agency recruitment across the service.

Every day is different in the Practice Development Team!

Our Location

The Practice Development Team is based in Shire Hall in Gloucester City centre. Being in Shire Hall, we are in the hub of Gloucestershire County Council meaning we have access to lots of different teams (Brokerage, Shared Lives, Direct Payments) and can form good working relationships.

Shire Hall is a central location with easy access to our other locality teams and good transport links throughout the county. We are commutable from surrounding areas such as Bristol and Worcestershire and there is free off-site parking within walking distance of the office.

We are based on the high street where there are lots of shops and cafe's to be found and we are even opposite Gloucester Cathedral which is lovely for lunch time in the summer months.
