Adding to Gloucestershire Archives' collections

We aim to locate, collect and preserve archives, books and other published sources which are of historical significance to Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.

We accept a wide range of items ranging from records created by the County Council to those belonging to private individuals.

We select material according to our  Appraisal [168kb],  Collections Development [162kb] and  Disposal [121kb] policies:

By prior appointment we can accept records as either a gift (our preferred option) or on long term loan as a deposit.

Our  acquisitions leaflet and the information sheet for donors and depositors [53kb] give more details on this and on access and copyright issues.

Please contact the collections management team to make an appointment before bringing in any material.

We can offer advice on which records to keep and for how long, as well as guidance on how to keep them safely. If you would like to discuss your records with us, please Contact us.
