Gloucestershire Remembers WW1 resources

How can we help?

We are producing a range of resources to help people of all ages discover the impact of WW1 on Gloucestershire's communities, and to share their findings in a variety of ways. We hope they will help you to commemorate WW1, both on a personal level and with your family, friends and neighbours.

Help with your research into WW1

We've created FREE toolkits and factsheets that will help you to learn about WW1 through original and published resources. These are available at Help with your research into WW1. You can Plan your visit to see many of the resources they mention.

Help with recording and sharing your research findings

We've also developed resources that will help you to keep a record of the things you discover and to share this information with others. Ideas for sharing include: designing exhibitions and making written information user-friendly; digital storytelling; sharing information online; and running events. You can find these guides on our help with recording and sharing your WW1 research page.

Cross-curricular learning resources for schools

We worked with two Gloucestershire primary schools (Slimbridge and Berry Hill)) to develop Key Stage 2 cross-curricular lesson plans and learning resources. We've also worked with a local education freelancer to produce Key Stage 3 cross-curricular lesson plans and learning resources for secondary schools.  These are all  helping pupils learn about the effects of WW1 on their communities.  The lesson plans are FREE to download from our Cross-curricular learning resources for schools page.  If you have any queries or would like to send us any feedback, contact us at archives@gloucestershire.gov.uk.
