We are pleased to announce that from the 4th August 2020, Gloucestershire Archives at the Heritage Hub will re-open to the public. Pre-booking is essential.
Our opening times will be Tuesday-Friday 9.00am-4.30pm. We will not open on Saturdays, but this will be kept under review.
Making an appointment
We will be operating an appointment system for all visitors to Gloucestershire Archives @ the Heritage Hub. This is to ensure that the recommended social distancing measures can be observed at all times.
To visit us, you'll need to:
- use an Archives and Records Association (ARA) Archives Card.
If you do not already have an Archives Card, please register for one online before your visit. This replaces the discontinued County Archives Research Network (CARN) reader’s card.
All first time users of an ARA Archives Card will need to bring ID to validate their application. Arrangements have been made to show ID, at a safe distance.
By registering using the ARA Archives Card system, we'll be able to log your visit, in case of contact tracing. See our privacy notice for more information.
- provide a list of documents required with full reference numbers. Please pre-order all material online
No more than 5 document requests can be made per visit. Please search our online catalogue to see what is available. We cannot guarantee that every item will be accessible as all material will be quarantined for 72 hours after use. No items can be retrieved or exchanged on the day. If you know that you'll need to see more than 5 documents, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
- give us details of convenient times for you. Every effort will be made to accommodate our users but due to a reduced searchroom capacity, we may ask you to suggest an alternative date.
Each booking will be confirmed by email with further information about your visit. Please read this information carefully. Wait until you have received this confirmation before making your visit.
