Update for Period of National Restrictions
In order to support the UK Government’s Stay at Home message – only essential appointments will be undertaken.
Marriage & Civil Partnership Ceremonies
Following the announcement by the Prime Minister, from 5th January 2021 marriage and civil partnership ceremonies should only take place in exceptional circumstances (for example, urgent marriages where one of those getting married is seriously ill and not expected to recover, or due to undergo debilitating treatment or life-changing surgery). In such circumstances, ceremonies must only take place with up to 6 people, dependent on Covid-safe room capacity.
NO receptions are allowed.
We are contacting couples with ceremonies booked during these restrictions to assist them in postponing, amending or cancelling their ceremony.
Notice of Marriage / Civil Partnership
During the period of the National Lockdown we will only be taking essential Notice of Marriage / Civil Partnership appointments.
Those couples who live outside of Gloucestershire should contact their local Register Office to find out what arrangements they have put in place for notices which need to be given.
Births
During the National Lockdown period, there will be limited availability for Birth Registration.
If your baby isn’t registered with a GP but needs to see one, you can receive emergency treatment from any GP surgery. Most GP surgeries will be able to register your baby as a patient online or over the phone.

NHS Test and Trace
NHS Test and Trace is a key part of the country’s ongoing COVID-19 response. All visitors to Gloucestershire County Council premises will be asked to voluntarily supply their details to NHS Test and Trace by the way of scanning a QR code on site. You will need to use the NHS Covid 19 App to allow you to do this. If you use an iphone, please download the App via the App store, if you use an Android phone please use Google play. It would be advisable to download prior to your visit to us.
If you are unable to download the App, your details will be requested on the day of the appointment by our staff.
Anybody attending a registration office for an appointment must wear a face covering unless they are exempt from doing so under Government guidelines
