I love working in Gloucestershire
I have worked for Gloucestershire Children’s Services for a number of years and it has been good to be part of the many changes that have been made in facilitating our improvement journey. I have had the opportunity of working within different areas of the service and have been supported to develop my skills and progress my career.
During my time in Gloucester, there has always been a genuine commitment to the children and families we support. There is a strong desire to provide a good service and achieve positive outcomes for families.
Opportunities to develop your career
I started as a Social Worker in Gloucestershire in 2016 and have been supported to develop my skills and progress my career, becoming a Senior Social Worker, then Advanced Practitioner. I became a Team Manager in 2021.
Healthy culture of learning and support
I have received regular support from my managers and there are many opportunities and forums to share my views and ideas. Training is promoted and prioritised within the organisation.
I have recently completed training in systemic practice and am really excited about it becoming the model of practice in Gloucestershire. Adopting systemic principles into my practice means my work is far more likely to be well informed and purposeful. Systemic practice enables me to explore different perspectives and consider the wider system within which we work. I am able to adopt a stance of curiosity in my work that enables a greater level of reflection.
