Independent Reviewing Officer (Children's Social Work)

Salary: £39,782 - £42,683

Location: Gloucester

We are looking to appoint an Independent Reviewing Officer who is committed to making a real difference for children and young people in the care of Gloucestershire County Council.

You will be responsible for preparing for and chairing reviews for children aged 0 – 18 and for identifying any issues that may be impacting on the welfare of the children or preventing them from achieving permanence in a timely manner. You will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, flexible, innovative and strong enough to challenge others when the needs of children are not being met or when practice is poor. Pursuing resolution of concerns is a significant part of the job, so you need to be persistent and courageous.

Salary: £31,371 - £38,813

Location: Gloucester

The role of a Social Worker:
As a children’s social worker you will work to ensure we keep the children and young people at the heart of our  assessments and decision making.  Through working with other staff within the service and partner agencies you will ensure we are able to provide support and protection for children and young people in need and at risk. To undertake this role with us we need:

- Your commitment and enthusiasm to add value to our Children’s Service
- Your front line experience as a qualified and registered social worker
- Your curiosity, analytical and communication skills to deliver high quality assessments to ensure the best outcomes for our children and their families.

Safeguarding Team Manager (Children's Social Work)

Salary: £43,662.00 - £45,591.00

Locations: Gloucester and Stroud

The role of a Safeguarding Team Manager:

As a Safeguarding Team Manager you will be accountable for a team of social workers on the front line working with children and young people who are defined as in need, on child protection plans and in care. Supporting the effective planning on interventions including legal pathways and permanency planning.

Our Safeguarding Teams ensure that every child has a clear assessment of need, with a plan that sets out how help will be delivered, outcomes to be achieved and arrangements for review. Children supported in these teams are subject to child protection plans, children in need plans or are going through court (PLO) or undergoing permanency planning having recently entered care. Within Gloucester, we operate a Pod model in which smaller geographically focussed teams work together as a multi-agency with embedded partner organisations.

Advanced Practitioner (Children's Social Work)

Salary: £39,782.00 - £42,683.00 

Locations: Cinderford (Safeguarding), Cheltenham (Assessment), Cirencester (Safeguarding & Assessment) & Stroud (Assessment)

The role of an Advanced Practitioner:

As an Advanced Practitioner you will hold a small complex caseload with a focus of driving best practice throughout your team and the wider service. You will be driven by best practice and research, using this in your mentoring and advice to colleagues as well as supporting the training and development of a student social worker.

The role of an Assessment Team Manager:

As an Assessment Team Manager you will be accountable for a team of social workers on the front line. These workers will be making first contact with children and families, ensuring children are seen in a timely manner, quality assessments of need are completed and the necessary actions taken. To undertake this role with us we need:

- Your commitment and enthusiasm to add value to our Children’s Service
- Your front line experience as a qualified and registered social worker
- Your leadership experience including mentoring / coaching to support a team of social workers
- You to provide high level support and challenge to social work colleagues to foster a learning culture
- You to also bring resilience to manage situations of a challenging nature
