Gloucestershire County Council is committed to promoting equality, diversity and cohesion. Our policies and procedures are intended to ensure fairness for all and reinforce our commitment to tackling inequalities wherever they exist and to eradicating the unacceptable treatment of any person.

The council constantly commits to being a diverse workforce by signing up to the following national schemes:

Disability Confident Employer

This scheme aims to help us successfully employ and retain disabled people and those with long term health conditions. We currently hold ‘Level 2 – Disability Confident Employer’ and are actively working with external agencies to achieve Level 3 – Disability Confident Leader’.

Mindful Employer

We are an employer who is positive about mental health and actively engaged in further improving the health and wellbeing of our staff.


We recognise that people perform better when they can be themselves and that by creating a diverse workforce that we’ll get the most from our staff. We work with Stonewall and have an active network called Prism to support our LGBT staff and to create an environment where everyone can be comfortable bringing their whole selves to work
