What is a welcome payment?
Gloucestershire County Council issues welcome payments to all new social work staff that join the authority in roles from Newly Qualified Social Worker up to Team Manager. The amount you will receive will be dependent on your position; Newly Qualified Social Workers and Advanced Practitioners will receive £3,000 split into two halves and Team Managers will receive £5,000 split into two halves.
How are Welcome Payments paid?
Welcome Payments are paid in two instalments. For Social Workers, Advanced Practitioners and Team Managers, you will receive the first half of your Welcome Payment in the first available salary after you join the council. Newly Qualified social Workers will receive the first half of their Welcome Payment advert once the CSW Recruitment Team has seen a copy of your degree certificate and Social Work England registration. For all roles – Newly Qualified up to Team Manager, the second half of your Welcome Payment will be paid after you have successfully passed your probationary period.
How long will my probationary period last?
For Newly Qualified Social Workers, your probationary period will run the length of your ASYE programme – 12 months. For Social Workers, Advanced Practitioners and Team Managers, the probationary period is 6 months.
What are Retention Payments?
Retention Payments are issued by Gloucestershire County Council to eligible social work staff who have been with us for at least 12 months.
How much are Gloucestershire’s Retention Payments and how often are they paid?
Our Retention Payments are currently £2,000 per individual and are paid every 6 months.
What are Relocation Payments?
Relocation payments are part of the policy that has been designed to assist those moving to Gloucestershire in order to take up their role up to the value of £8,000. All eligible and ineligible costs are detailed in our Relocation Policy and this is sent alongside the offer pack to all applicants who live outside the GL postcode. Please note there is a limit on reimbursement of lodging and/or daily or weekend travelling expenses to £2,500 + VAT.
How much am I entitled to claim under Gloucestershire’s Relocation Policy?
You may claim up to £8,000 under our relocation policy however eligibility criteria must be met to claim items and all claims must be submitted with receipts too.
