Emerging Waste Local Plan for Gloucestershire - ‘Call for Sites’ Consultation 2022

Published
07.10.2022

Between 5th October and 30th November 2022, the County Council is very keen to hear from any interested parties such as landowners, prospective developers, and the business community about any local land, they believe could be developed for waste management in the future.

‘Call for Sites’ is a technical plan-making exercise to support the emerging new Waste Local Plan for Gloucestershire. The information provided will be really important in helping to shape a new development strategy and land-use planning policy options for the county’s new waste plan.

At this stage, promoted sites will not be able to claim any kind of special or favourable planning status, or presumption in favour of waste-related development. However, ‘Call for Sites’ offers a chance to carefully look at the availability, acceptability and appropriateness of local land to host waste management facilities in the future.

Promoters of local land are encouraged to make submissions via ‘Have Your Say Gloucestershire’. The deadline for ‘Call for Sites’ is 5pm, Wednesday 30th November 2022.

In 2023, the County Council will be asking people to get involved in preparing a development strategy for the county’s new waste plan. Local land identified through the ‘Call for Sites’ could be included as possible allocations for waste development.

Contributions are welcomed from GCC members, local businesses and those with an interest in developing / regenerating suitable land in divisions throughout the county.
