Friday 6 October 2017 Safeguarding Children Training Session (10.00am Members Room)

The Children and Families Scrutiny Committee is holding a training session on the role of the councillor in safeguarding children on Friday 6 October at 10.00am in the Members Room.
This is part of the LGA support to the committee following on from the Ofsted Inspection and is facilitated by an independent consultant.
Safeguarding Children: a Councillor’s role supports Councillors to explore and understand:
- An overview of local authorities responsibilities for safeguarding children: legislation and practice
- Local safeguarding systems: working together
- Effective use of data, evidence and scrutiny: how do you get to know what you don’t know?
- The value that effective scrutiny can bring to safeguarding children services, systems and strategies in Gloucestershire.
Whist initially set up for CFOSC members any member of council is welcome to attend.
