GCC’s Flood Risk Management Team has secured approval to recruit a Gloucestershire Natural Flood Management (NFM) Project Development Officer
First and foremost the role will seek to augment and support the excellent NFM delivery work already underway in the county, filling in identified gaps and meeting missed potential. The immediate aspiration is to pull together a multi-agency steering group to develop the project, shape the role and identify priority areas / target catchments where the project will have the optimum effect, primarily in flood risk management benefit, but also biodiversity and blue-green infrastructure. Alongside securing revenue, we are also developing a bid to national flood risk management funding (which will match the revenue) to support the on-the-ground delivery and help make sure the project can deliver on its objectives.
This is an exciting development for flood risk management in the county and will cement GCC’s place at the forefront of building climate resilience through working with nature.
