RAF Fairford Airfield Visit 12 June

The Chairman of Council has provided details of the recent visit to RAF Fairford:

The USAF have a policy of establishing good relationships with the local communities. I was there representing the county council others were there from local parishes and so on.

This is the first time all three bombers were to be seen at Fairford at the same time. The USAF consider Fairford to be their most important bomber base in Europe. In practice it is a forward base, with Missouri being that her home state, from whence they are flown over as required.

A fascinating visit in which we were all encouraged to view inside the tiny cockpits in which the pilots can be for over twenty four hours at a time.
