Remembering Srebrenica

Today (Tuesday, 11 July) we ask you to remember the lives lost in the Srebrenica genocide. During the time thousands of people were killed, raped and tortured.
To mark the 22nd commemoration, this year’s theme is to raise awareness of violence against women. It is about remembering, but also understanding and reducing hate crime in our communities.
Councillor Colin Hay visited Srebrenica last year in his role as chairman of the council to look at how we can learn from the lessons of Srebrenica in tackling hate and prejudice in communities.
