Advice and support for elderly residents

Government guidance is that people 70 years of age and older are at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) and need to be particularly stringent in following government advice.

The guidance in this section is tailored to support you. You may also find it useful to view our Wellbeing support for all Gloucestershire citizens page.

Given government guidance that suggests over 70s are more at risk of COVID-19, if you are in this age group, and particularly if you have pre-existing medical conditions, it is natural for you to feel concerned or affected by changes you have to make to your daily life.

Taking care of your mind as well as your body is really important if you need to stay at home. You may feel bored, frustrated or lonely. You may also be low, worried or anxious, or concerned about your finances, your health or those close to you.

It's important to remember that it's OK to feel this way and that everyone reacts differently. Remember, for most of us, these feelings will pass. Staying at home may be difficult, but you're helping to protect yourself and others by doing it.
