Help your child cope with school / college

It is completely normal for children and young people to worry about things that happen at school or college from time to time. If you are a parent it can be really concerning and you might wonder what you can do to support them.

Below are some ways to help  your child / children cope with school or college.

If your child is worried about coronavirus

Coronavirus has had a big impact on our lives and some children might be worried about how it will affect them at school. For example, there may be a set of new rules to follow.

You can help by:

  • Having an open conversation about their worries and making sure they know it is okay to ask questions.
  • Reassure them about the safety measures that are in place to protect them.Go over the things they can do, like regular hand washing.
  • Encourage them to focus on the things they look forward to about school –seeing friends, teachers and learning about their favourite subjects.
