5 ways to wellbeing

The 5 ways to wellbeing are:

- Connect,
- Be active,
- Take notice,
- Keep learning, and
- Give.

Below you can find out what each method of wellbeing means and how to practice them.

It is important to try to calm your busy mind. Try not to stay glued to the news.

Take some time to enjoy the moment and the environment around you and notice something you had not noticed before. Spend time outside in the garden in nature if you can.

You could even try some mindfulness!

How can I take notice?

NHS Choices has an introduction to mindfulness and different relaxation techniques you could try.

Spend time in nature and take notice of wildlife. Below are some resources for how to incorporate nature into your wellbeing routine:

  • Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust - health and wellbeing - The 5 ways to wellbeing are particularly effective when practised outdoors.
  • Wildlife trust webcams - Ospreys, puffins, peregrines, owls and more! Watch wildlife on webcams provided by Wildlife Trusts across the British Isles. Webcams allow an unrivaled view of intriguing behaviours: from courtship, nesting, and hatching. Be warned - it is addictive viewing!
  • Wildlife Watch - spotting sheets - download our spotting sheets and take them with you when you go wildlife spotting.
