Back to school advice for parents / carers
With the majority of children and young people being away from school for such an extended period of time, this ‘back to school’ season might feel different to normal.
While this time of year usually brings a flurry of activity, this year might feel a bit more fraught or uncertain.
There are things you can do now to make that transition back to school easier, and ease any anxieties there might be around starting school again.
Below are some ways to help ease your child / children back into the school routine.
Kooth
Kooth is a free, anonymous online support platform. It includes self-care resources and access to trained online counsellors, as well as an online support network.
It is open to anyone aged 11-18 living in Gloucestershire and experiencing issues with their emotional wellbeing, such as stress, low mood or anxiety (there is also a version for adults called Qwell).
TIC+
TIC+ Chat is an anonymous phone or online counselling service for young people aged 9 to 21. If your child or young person would rather speak to someone over the phone, they can call 0300 303 8080.
TIC+ also have an anonymous parents / carers support section on their website or you can call 0800 6525 675.
Chat Health
If your child / children prefer texting, they can contact Chat Health – a confidential texting service for young people to get in touch with a healthcare professional for advice and support. The number to text is: 07507 333351.
