About Hartwood House
Hartwood House is Gloucestershire County Council's specialist short breaks home for children and young people with disabilities and complex health needs. As part of our Disabled Children's Service, we provide a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment where children can enjoy new experiences, build confidence and develop independence, while giving families valuable support and respite.

Life at Hartwood House
No two days are the same at Hartwood House. We focus on creating fun, meaningful experiences that help children and young people enjoy their childhood, develop new skills and make lasting memories. Whether it's creative activities, days out in the community, sensory play, cooking, games or celebrating special occasions, our team works hard to ensure every stay is positive and enriching.
We take a child-centred approach, tailoring support to each young person's individual needs, interests and communication style. We work closely with families, health professionals, schools and social workers to ensure children receive the best possible care and support.
Our Team
Hartwood House is led by an experienced Residential Manager and supported by Deputy Managers, Shift Leaders, Residential Support Workers and Night Support Workers who provide care and support around the clock. Together, they create a warm and supportive environment where children can thrive.
