DSL Webinar - Domestic Abuse

Published 18th January 2021

As a continuation of the International 16 days of action against gender-based violence [which started on the 25th November (International day for the elimination of violence against women) and ended on 10th December (Human rights day)], Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Executive will be running a second webinar which will look at abusive relationships between parents / carers.  In this webinar we are going to build on the learning about the dynamics of domestic abuse to explore the impact on children and young people.

This webinar will be recorded if you would like to view this session at a later date and time, and the video posted on the Education and Early Years page of the GSCP website:

Gloucestershire Encompass Training for Early Years - Reminder

Published on 24th November 2020

The original notification of the training can been seen below, published on 12th October.

I wanted to send you all a reminder and give you some additional information/documentation to support you.

The session will last approx. 1 – 1 ½ hours, depending on I.T connection and any questions.

Providers will be accessing this training using different methods so please bare with us. I.T is not always reliable! If you join the meeting but unfortunately become disconnected, please try logging back in and where we need to, we will ‘invite’ you back.

Whilst on the session we ask attendees to mute themselves as connection/sound is usually better.

For those using a laptop, you may have the option of a ‘chat’ box where you can ask questions. As there will be several trainers someone will be answering these throughout the session. We will then save all questions and answers and make them available on the early years service webpage.

I have attached the powerpoint handout you will need for the session. I have also attached the serious case review of ‘Megan’ a young child who attended a local nursery. This case may be referred to in the session.

THERE IS NO NEED TO BOOK.  Please join by using one of the methods listed here, which can also be viewed in the original training notification shown below, published on 12th October.

Gloucestershire Encompass Training for Early Years

Published on 12th October 2020

This is based upon the successful model of sharing information between police and schools where there has been a reported incident of Domestic Abuse. We now wish to extend this model and training to those of you working in early years settings.

What is Operation Encompass?

To ensure the effectiveness of this scheme and to enable you to be equipped with documentation to support Gloucestershire Encompass we would like to offer every setting to attend one of the virtual training sessions.

To enable you to be as prepared as possible for this launch we would welcome one of your Designated Safeguarding Leads to attend one of the following virtual training sessions, with a view to them becoming the Encompass lead within your setting:

Virtual Training Sessions

You do not need to book to attend the Encompass Training Sessions. You may select any session and just dial in.

The sessions will last for a duration of approximately 90 minutes.

At the training you will be asked to provide the name of your Encompass lead within your setting along with a secure email address for the setting that notifications can be sent to.  Please note we are unable to accept personal email addresses. We aim to set up a directory of your information to ensure the effectiveness of this scheme.  Therefore your co-operation is vital to the success of Gloucestershire Encompass.

Kind regards,

Georgina Summers
